FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Common questions about UAE corporate tax registration and filing.

Almost every UAE business operating under a trade licence needs a Corporate Tax registration — mainland and free-zone companies alike, and in many cases branches and certain independent professionals too. Registration is required even when profit falls below the taxable threshold, so it is worth confirming your position early rather than assuming you are outside the scope.

Yes. Free-zone companies register like any other UAE entity. A Qualifying Free Zone Person may still benefit from a 0% rate on qualifying income, but that treatment has to be supported by the right substance, records and reporting — it is not automatic. We review your activity and tell you where you actually stand before anything is filed.

For registration we typically need your trade licence, Emirates ID and passport copies for the owners or authorised signatory, the Memorandum of Association, and your contact and licensing details. For the return itself we work from your financial statements, general ledger and supporting schedules. If the records need tidying first, that is handled as part of the engagement.

The Corporate Tax return is due within nine months of the end of your financial year, and the tax is payable by the same date. A company with a 31 December year end therefore files by 30 September the following year. We track your specific deadline and start early enough to keep the filing comfortable rather than rushed.
